Description
A Natural Substrate for a Humid Terrarium
Reptiles and amphibians from tropical regions need humid air. Sphagnum moss (a type of peat moss) retains a lot of water and then gradually releases it into the air inside the terrarium.
You can use sphagnum moss as a substrate, in a molting box, or in a humid hiding spot.
For plants
Sphagnum moss also serves as a growing medium for terrarium plants, such as orchids. It keeps the roots moist.
Instructions
- Place the block in a container.
- Pour in lukewarm water and let the moss expand.
- Gently squeeze out the excess water by hand.
- Arrange the moss in the terrarium.

Place the damp sphagnum moss in a closed hiding spot: your reptile will find a more humid spot there, which is helpful during molting.
